Department of Library




Our Library is well stacked with a wide variety of about 31,570 books and subscribes to 8 Newspapers, 34 Magazines and 15 Journals. The Library has exclusive sections for Reference Books, Dissertations and Theses, Book Bank (catering to the students of economically and socially backward communities), a separate section on Career Guidance, and a DVD Section that are all well maintained. The computerized database makes it easy for students to access the books needed for their curriculum. Every department maintains a Department Library and P.G. Classes maintain a Classroom library.

We subscribe to N- LIST  (The  National Library and Information Services) an infrastructure for Scholarly Content that extends access to about 6000+ e journals and 31,35,000+ e books. Keeping in pace with the rapidly developing ICT, we empower the students with Skill Update Programmes. The Library is open on all working days between 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.

The Department continuously conducts various Certificate Courses and Competitions, Skill Update Programmes to empower  students, Book Exhibitions and Expos, National Library Day Celebrations, Outreach Programmes to develop reading habits, Outreach to the Ritham School for Special Children, etc.

Facilities for the Physically Challenged: The Library is User friendly and caters to the special needs of the Physically Challenged students with Ramps. A separate system is allotted for the Blind or Vision Impaired students in the digital Library, to read the screen with a text-to-speech output.

The Library conducts the Readers’ Forum that meets every Friday between 1.20 and 2.00 p.m. basically to improve the Reading Habit, to share Book Reviews and encourage Book Reading, to equip the students to face Competitive Exams, to develop their General Knowledge and Current Affairs, to instill the habit of Newspaper Reading, Career Guidance and intimations on Higher Studies and Scholarships. Our Readers Forum students have retained the S.S.S.M.Selvarajan Meenakshi Rolling Trophy sponsored by V.V.V.College for Women, Virudhunagar since its institution in 2018 and awarded during the Library Carnival.

A Cash Award of Rs.500 each  is awarded to the Best Library User and the Best Library Volunteer every year.
